Update
Well, I had my MRI done on March 2nd, they told me it would take 24 hours to get the results in. I waited Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday..no phone call with what the hell is going on. So I call my doctor's office Tuesday.
"Hi, this is Jaime...I'm calling to find out the results of my MRI done at CMI on Thursday. "
"Ok, you're not a patient here. You're a patient at the Waterville office."
"ok...I guess I'll call there..."
"Hi, this is Jaime...I'm calling to find out the resutls of my MRI done at CMI on Thursday."
"OK, you're not a patient here. You're a patient at the Washington Mills office. Call over there, they'd have your papers."
"um, Washington Mills told me I'm not a patient there, that I'm a patient at Waterville...they said they don't have my papers there."
"Hi, this is Jaime again. Waterville just told me I'm not a patient there either."
"oh ok, then you're probably a patient here."
"Um..could you please check? Both you and Waterville are telling me I'm not a patient of theirs."
*huffy sound* "hold on please, I'll check"
You should have fucking checked the first time I called, jackass.
"Hi, Jaime. We don't have your papers here. I see here that you've been to both offices. We don't like when patients switch which office they go to. Why did you do that?" (scolding-like)
"I called months ago asking them to change me to Washington Mills because it's easier for me to get there."
"Well, you have to sign release papers to get the papers up to this office then. That's what you have to do."
"They don't have my papers over there."
"Could someone please just give me my results to my MRI?"
"Dr. Petrie is out of his office today. He has to read those first in order to tell you what it all means. "
"I had my MRI done on thursday, i've been waiting since then to hear about them. Did you guys ever get the fax they sent you? could you please tell someone to call me asap with my results, I was told told it was an emergency."
"Who told you it was an emergency?!" (scolding-like)
"My eye doctor"
"does HE has the results?"
I swear to CHRIST!
"well, I'll put a note here that you're in a hurry."
Did I say I was in a hurry?!? I said it was an E M E R G E N C Y. I'm losing my freaking EYE SIGHT, and you're just going to sit on the results for almost a WEEK!?! Are you kidding me?! I paid $900 dollars for that freaking MRI, I have no insurance, they're MY results!!!! I PAID for them!
"Who is your primary care physician?"
"Dr. Petrie"
"we have on here that your doctor is the nurse practitioner at Waterville."
"Um, my doctor is petrie, I was told this when I first started coming to you guys."
*calling waterville*
"Hi, this is jaime again. Could you please tell me where I'm supposed to be a paitent? Washington Mills office tell sme I'm yours, and they don't have my papers. They say the nurse practitioner is my primary care physician."
"you've never been here before, though, right?"
"yes, I've been there once before."
"we have you as a no-show once, and that's all. You've never been here."
"yes, I have been there. A few months ago."
"well, we don't have your papers."
*calling my eye doctor now*
"Hi, this is Jaime, I'm calling about the results for my MRI I had on Thursday at CMI."
"we didn't get any results. Call your doctor, they'd have your results."
*talking to CMI now* "Hi, this is Jaime, could you tell me if and when you faxed my results to my doctor and my eye doctor?"
"yes, we faxed them on Thursday at 3:00. We could re-fax them if you'd like"
"yes, please. Thank you."
*Talking to regular doctor's office*
"Hi, this is Jaime. CMI re-faxed over my results."
"Dr. Petrie has read your results but he asked me to set up an appointment for tomorrow to discuss the results and to catch up because he hasn't seen you in a while."
Note: Dr. Petrie has never seen me before. A phone call before, she told me he was out of his office and hasn't read the results yet, so therefore he cannot give me the results. ASSHOLE. Also, what is Dr. Petrie doing with my results if he's not my actual doctor?
"Hi, this is Jaime. Is my doctor in?"
"yes, but she's seeing patients."
"could you give her a message to call me by the end of the day?"
"didn't they already talk to you? you have an appointment to hear your results tomorrow."
OH, and how the fuck would a receptionist at Waterville know all about my appointment in a matter of 10 minutes?
"yes, but I want to know right now. I've been waiting since Thursday to find out what is wrong and I don't want to wait another day."
"well, I'll levae a phone message, but I don't think he wants to tell you the results over the phone...."
OH THAT'S NICE. Way to make me even MORE nervous! Great. Something IS wrong but they've not called me in 6 days....
*calling eye doctor*
"Hi, this is Jaime. Did you receive a fax from CMI?"
"oh yes, she called me and asked me our fax number and said she was going to re-fax over some results from your MRI, but I was on the computer, and when I'm online, we can't receive faxes..."
I was waiting for her to say something more. But guess what? NOPE! that was her whole explanation."
"why don't you call your doctor's office, one of the nurses should be able to give you your results without the doctor being there."
*calling doctor's again*
"Hi, this is Jaime. Did you guys receive a re-fax of my results that someone could read to me? I really need to know my results. I've been waiting 6 days now"
"Oh, all they sent over was a scribbled preliminary thing that I can't read...Petrie has the results."
Hm. How in the hell does Petrie have my results if he's away and NOT my doctor? Interesting.
*Calling CMI
"HI, this is Jaime. Petrie's office told me all you sent over was a scribbled preliminary thing."
"ok, hold on, let me check.
*her talking toanother person at CMI..."you faxed both doctor's offices the typed report, right? not a scribbled preliminary?" "yeah, like a thousand times now"
"Yes, we did fax them over and it was the full, typed report."
"ok, thank you!"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
So that's my doctor story. There was even more that I left out, too. Can you imagine? I mean, people get mad at us for messing up their donut order once in a blue moon, but these people are messing around with a human life?
So, I went to the doctor today. Turns out, I probably do have MS, much like I have thought for the past 5 years but neurologists kept telling me no way, you don't have MS. Even after they found a lesion-looking thing in my brain, he did another MRI and it was gone so he said nope, yo'ure fine! Today's news was not good. He's sending me back to the neurologist tomorrow, possibly for a spinal tap and to verify that I have Multiple Sclerosis, Relapsing/Remitting. All of the symptoms I've been having all these years, the numbness, the numbness again, the UTI like thing, and now my eye sight, they're all MS. Everytime they would go away, I was just in Remission. Then something else would happen. I don't know what to say. I always knew there was something NOT NORMAL about going numb in half of your body.
Want to hear the findings?
There are numerous foci of increased T2 and FLAIR signal seen in the subcortical and periventricular white matter bilaterally, which are increased in number compared to the previous study of 6-9-03. One of the new foci seen in the left periatrial white matter shows enhancement. Findings are most compatible with demyelinating disease with an active plaque seen in the right periatrial white matter. The ventricles are normal in size. No abnormal extra-axial collection is seen. No additional areas of enhancement are identified.
Hm. Interesting. My last MRI done in '03, he told me it was ALL CLEAN. NOTHING IS THERE. Oh, but what does it say? The white matter thingies have increased in number? So there WAS something in my MRI THREE YEARS AGO?!? AAAAAAH! Doctors. I think we're going to try to find a doctor in Syracuse...If I had known about this 5 years ago, there are medicines that could slow the process of WHITE MATTERS GROWING IN MY BRAIN!
Ok, I have to go watch Frasier to calm down....
byebye....
